A little thought for your Tuesday: .
I’m in the process of reading a book called “Unf*ck Yourself” by Garry John Bishop, and it has seriously given me some inspiration. .
I feel compelled to share something that is discussed in the book, regarding certainty. So my questions is to you, before even reading the rest of this: does certainty exist? Are you ever able to hold it or attain it? Really think about that for a second. .
I feel like no matter how hard we try, wish, or pray or whatever, we can never be certain about anything regarding the future. It’s like as soon as we think we are about to reach it, it slips away. Plans can change. People can change. Lifestyles, moods, thoughts; they can all change. So what are we aimlessly chasing after? We want so badly to reach that “certainty” in our lives. It’s like we are running around on our hamster wheel of life, propelling forward, chasing after something, but really getting nowhere. .
It seems that certainty brings out a sense of comfort for people. We are dying to know what lies ahead of us so that we can prepare ourselves for it. .
I think we all need to try to pull away from that longing for certainty. Instead, long for the uncertain. That’s where you can grow, learn, and experience new things. When we pull our mind away from wanting that certainty and let life be; that’s where things happen. .
So, stop sticking to things you’re comfortable with, because it is going to prevent you from moving forward. I urge you to invite the uncertainty into your life by changing things up. Let your mind be free of trying to predict the future, and let it happen as it may. .
I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday.
