What does cleaning look like in your home?
Do you have a set cleaning day? Is it a Friday so your home is clean for the weekend or is it Sunday to set you up for the coming week?
Or do you just do bits or areas throughout the week, to spread the load?
Do you clean yourself, as as a family, or do you have a cleaner?
Cleaning is usually a list of chores needs to be done at some point, so however you make it work for you is a winner in my book.
Here's some of the tasks on a roster system with the kids.
At the mo it's
Dishes (including emptying dishwasher).
Sweep & Dust (sometimes they add vaccum).
Clean Bathroom including the toilet.
The rest Jim and I do.
Yes our children clean the bathroom, with Norwex they don't come in contact with any toxic chemicals. Just a cloth(s) and water.
Once I learned to manage my expectations around how their clean might look, it started to run a lot smoother. Also their age is relevant. For example the almost 12 year old is able to complete their chore to the level of the adults, as can the 9 year old (most of the time), where as the 5 year old isn't capable of this, but he has a really good go as he knows he's being helpful.
There are times where I might finish off things to my standard (without them knowing)...and to be fair once we ended up with a tribe of kids that standard shuffled a little for my sanity ;) . Sometimes there's a massive uh oh! Mummy's on a get this house in order day and everyone knows it's time to sort their rooms etc (you know what I mean right?!?!?) So what does the cleaning routine look like for you? Does it include Norwex? Or other less toxic chemicals? Or are you not yet ready to move away from toxic cleaning products?
I'd love for us to see how others get these sometimes mundane tasks done. No judgement. Just the opportunity to nod and understand we are all just doing life how it works for us right now.
