“You used to be so much more active on Instagram!”. . For a while I felt guilty about this (and still do sometime), because I used to post on my feed at lease 3 to 4 times a week. Cooking and posting my creations was my creative outlet, but at some point, it started to feel like a task. I remember getting stressed out if I didn’t make it home on time to take food pictures before sunset. Feeling like I hadn’t commented and engaged enough on other’s Instagram posts. Feeling frustrated because someone was getting so many more followers and cool brand partnerships and I wasn’t. Spending so much money on groceries to come up with the perfect plate for my pictures. . I went down the toxic Instagram rabbit hole for a while and naturally lost sight of the real reason I had started this account. It took months, but now I’m finally starting to get excited about trying new recipes and sharing them. . Social media is an amazing thing but also a double-edged sword. Inspiration, content, news, information, memes (my fave), and so many other amazing things are shared every hour of the day. But on the other hand, how many times have you wished you looked, lived, had the things, and the motivation people on social media have? . I know I have. I guess the overall message I want to give by sharing this information is to remind you be careful with how you use social media. Curate your content to see things that motivate you instead of make you feel like you aren’t enough. Post stuff that reminds you of the good times, not only about how good you looked and how many likes you got. Share stories that have value to you, not just because you want people to see you are doing or have things. And as a mom of 3 little ones, I am certainly part of that business!😴 . ✅COFFEE IS GOOD FOR YOU: One study found that coffee is the single greatest contributor to the total antioxidant intake of Americans. Not only because they drink so much, but because it is actually extremely high in antioxidants. Antioxidants are what keep the our body strong and healthy! . Many other studies have found that coffee can help lower the risk of Alzheimers, Parkinson’s, liver disease, type 2 diabetes, and it can even reduce the risk of depression. It also improves brain function and alertness! . . ❌COFFEE IS ONE OF THE MOST HEAVILY SPRAYED CROPS IN THE WORLD. Since it is such big business, companies need to produce large amounts in a short amount of time and will do whatever they can to make that happen. . BUT…studies found that roasting coffee reduces the pesticides by 90%! While that is pretty good, I really don’t want even that small amount of what’s left behind. Remember, it is the small buildup of all of the pesticides in our lives that contribute to disease. . ✅NO COFFEE IS “BAD” In this post, I am saying it is “OK” because the high amount of antioxidants are worth it and I don’t want you worrying about your cup of coffee! . BUT IF YOU WANT A BETTER CHOICE…LOOK FOR: ✅Organic: Means no pesticides were used so none remain in your coffee and no workers or their families are suffering from the effects of these pesticides in their community air and water supply. ✅Fair Trade: means that the farmers and workers behind the company are treated fairly and are given good opportunities for their families. ✅Rainforest Alliance, bird friendly, or Shade Grown: This is coffee that can grow in the shade of trees decreasing the need of deforestation. ✅Mycotoxin Tested or Single Source: Some coffees have been found to have mycotoxins (mold) in the beans. This is from many different factors but bags with blends from different locations had the most. ✅Water Processed Decaf: Otherwise the decaf may be made by using chemical solvents. ☕️☕️😀

Staying committed to goals can get hard at times. Life is so busy these days that anything can throw you off track and set you back. Two things I do to try and stay on track with my goals are: 🔸 Remove any distractions. That could be people, activities, things that waste time and gets me nowhere like scrolling through social media or watching tv. 🔸🔸 Have a plan. It doesn’t have to be in depth from A to Z but I do plan out my week so I can hit everything I need to. The holidays can be rough for someone who struggles with their food relationship.🎅🏻🍪⁣ ⁣ There’s no denying food makes you feel good when it tastes good. Food is inherently tied to emotion. People plan dates around food, reach for it when they are stressed and use it as a reward. ⁣ ⁣ EMOTIONAL EATING is using food to cope instead of listening to hunger cues. If you give in to emotional eating too often, it leads to weight gain (this is not to be confused with intuitive eating). ⁣ ⁣ While food is meant to be enjoyed, habitually processing emotions through eating can be detrimental, leading to feelings of guilt and ultimately binging. Here are a few ways to keep your diet in check, and work on creating a healthier relationship with food. ⁣ ⁣ 🚫DISCLAIMER: I am not a medical professional. 🚫⁣ ⁣ ✅Identify Triggers⁣ Let me preface this by saying you should never feel guilty for eating foods you love, you just have to be honest with yourself. ⁣ Do you eat when you are stressed? Do you eat when you are depressed? Do you sneak food to eat alone in secret? Identifying what causes the trigger is the first step to solving the problem.⁣ ⁣ ✅Make time for yourself ⁣ Find a place to channel your feelings and learn how to cope, whether it be a workout or a hobby. When you feel an urge coming on, channel the energy into your outlet. Instead of focusing on that pizza, remove yourself from the situation. Take a walk. Call a friend. ⁣ I value my morning routine, and find having a certain way to start my day kicks it off in the right direction.⁣ ⁣ ✅Eat foods you enjoy⁣ One of the biggest reasons folks fall off their diets and end up eating foods that are otherwise “off limits,” is because they do not know how to cook and season properly.⁣ ⭐️Try to follow the 80/20 rule. Your diet should be 80 percent whole foods that are minimally processed and 20 percent from what you would like, adding more flexibility. ⁣ ⁣ Want more food for thought?
