I was an appreciative child, though it wasn’t until later that I consciously made the connection between gratitude and the flow of goodness in life.⁣ ⁣ 💓 I didn’t grow up with money and ended up being a significant financial support to my mom for a long time and to a minor extent my dad late in his life.⁣ ⁣ 💗 One of my long standing metrics for personal wealth is being able to go into the grocery store and buy whatever I want. There were times way back in my 20s I’d have to put something back at the checkout, because I miscounted how much I put in my cart. ⁣ ⁣ 💖 I was thinking about one of those times as I made this amazing salad. I started with locally grown organic artisan greens. I added carrots, red onion, red pepper, radishes & mushrooms. As the stress of the holidays is approaching, we wanted to share one of the research studies conducted with our specialized yoga program! . “We are excited to announce that a study from Fertility Centers of Illinois and Pulling Down the Moon found that online yoga and in-person yoga are equally effective in reducing anxiety among infertility patients with at least one failed IVF cycle or miscarriage. The Yoga for Fertility ™ program patients participated in included 6 weekly meetings. For those attending classes, the meetings involved a 90-minute fertility yoga class and group discussion. In the online program, participants completed a DVD-instructed yoga class each week on their own **now available as over 3 hours of yoga downloads!** and then joined a weekly 45-minute discussion via an online platform. Both groups received the Pulling Down the Moon Fully Fertile DVD and “The Infertility Cleanse” book as supplemental study materials. Yoga classes include a series of yoga postures designed to improve fertility by increasing blood flow into the pelvis, releasing stress and anxiety and balancing life energy flow in the body. After a 6 weeks, anxiety was reduced by up to 26% for those in an online yoga class and 23% for those in an in-person yoga program. This is very promising – many women are unable to attend but can now experience the same benefits by practicing at home. This is the 1st study of its kind to demonstrate a reduction in stress through a remote mechanism, and it further reinforces the benefit of group discussion in reducing stress. The study is being shared with the national fertility community at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine annual meeting and was conducted by Dr. Jennifer Hirshfeld-Cytron of @fertilitycentersofillinois and Beth Heller of Pulling Down the Moon. I've been pushing myself too hard for the past 10+years, suffered from bullying, too much pressure. Emotional strength and resilience are good traits. But we can only have those if we take time to repair ourselves - ignoring negative people, taking time off work, not being obsessed with status. To build the strongest and best environment for ourselves and others we must build ourselves and one another up. To tear down may be the easiest way to the end goal but it only creates lack. We are selfish and lazy if we act in this way and it only leads to unfulfillment, emptiness, and a low vibration in ourselves and others. Perhaps during this holiday season we can do something as simple as let that person go in front of us in traffic or have that parking space they wanted to "steal" from us without anger. You never know what impact you may have on them or why they're in such a rush. Being cognizant of our actions and thoughts are paramount in producing change. None of us are perfect but we can identify what we are lacking in ourselves and work to change it when we have the temptation to tear down instead of build up. It’s YHB’s health coach Jess (@bodyblissbyjess) here stopping by to tell you about my favorite 3pm swap for coffee & since it’s almost that time of day, I figured it might inspire you to try something new today! 🍵 . I originally found out about Matcha when I developed terrible migraines and realized one of my triggers had been the 2-3 giant cups of coffee I had been consuming every day. 😔 As part of my therapy to getting well, I decided to find an alternative to my morning coffee that would still give me a boost while satisfying that craving for something warm and sweet. . MATCHA- THE TRIPLE THREAT . 1. Antioxidants: matcha is one of the most concentrated sources of antioxidants on the planet! You want these “good guys” as your bodies line of defense against rapid aging, and inflammation as well as to help with blood sugar balance, cholesterol levels and even metabolism! . 2. L-theanine: an amino acid celebrated for its super chill effects on the mind! 🧘🏼‍♂️Have you ever noticed how coffee can make you feel anxious? On the contrary, Matcha can ease the brain and make you feel less hectic which could be a great way to subtly lower those cortisol levels…especially during the holiday madness! . 3: Caffeine: the caffeine in Matcha bonds to larger plant molecules, bumping up the time it takes for it to break down in the bloodstream. So what does this mean? Prolonged, steady stream energy instead of the quick burst and crash that you get from coffee and energy drinks…thus the mile long line at Starbucks at 3pm! ☕️ . I’m not saying that coffee is “bad” or that you need to drink exclusively matcha, but I do think it would be worth giving a try, especially if you notice any negative side effects after that 2nd or 3rd cup of coffee!
