Whenever I look around, I see BUSYNESS. We have technology to help us to get more done in a short time, but we put more goals on the list and get even busier.
The question I get asked almost always from my clients is “ Are you being busy?“. I answer “Yes I am, but sometimes it feels too much… they answer Good!“.
Busyness seems to be a batch of honor nowadays and even if it makes us proud when we achieve our goals, I also see tired stressed faces, tight and sore bodies and serious people staring at their phones all the time. It almost looks like they are scared to put their phones away for a moment in fear of missing some important call, message or the opportunity of their life.
I must admit I have a long periods of very busy time, working 6 days per week and if not with my clients, then I´m taking care of my kids, cooking, preparing contents, working on my website, doing admin work etc.. I know myself well enough to be able to stop when I start to feel unhappy, frustrated, irritated or sad. That is the moment I need to take holidays and travel (preferable far from “civilized“ world).
But it is not easy. My mind is giving me a hard time- you shouldn´t take so much time off, you should post on social media regularly otherwise you will never expand your business, you should prepare Holidays campaigns and build your email list because everyone is doing it, you should create videos, stories, show up live…. just thinking of all this triggers an anxiety mood!
And so I decide not to do all this. I was working hard the whole year and if everyone else seems to push even harder now to reach the goals before the year is over, I chose not to. I´m taking holidays (that is what holiday season means in the end, right?) and I choose REST, so that I can start fresh the new year and the new decade full of energy and creative ideas.
My body, mind and soul need rest. Yours need it too, are you listening?
