A little bit about me : 90% of my clothes are capable of hiking, yoga, gardening, and can generally keep up playing outside, because, well, that’s what we do, every damn day. The only pair of high heeled shoes I’ve owned in the last 10 years got given away without being worn once 🤷🏻‍♀️. You can generally find my little man and I on any given day meandering on bikes and on foot through the woods looking for treasures of all kinds. What I believe in in life is PLAY. I believe that I should be able to do at least a little of what I want every day, and I’ve created a life in which I can do just that. I work hard, play hard and love to the depths of my soul: my family, my work, my friends, the incredible ecosystems that surround me, and all the opportunities that life gives me to continue to grow and learn. No matter how much weight I had lost, there was always something else I needed to change about my body. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ ☄️ My legs are too big ⁠⠀ ☄️ I want a thigh gap ⁠⠀ ☄️ My arms are saggy⁠⠀ ☄️ I have back fat with every single bra I wear ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ The list never seemed to have an end. It was a bottomless pit of dissatisfaction with my body. ⁠It wasn't until I gave my mindset a kick in the ass and it did a 360 that my journey for self-love began. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ All the negative thoughts about myself was just the beginning to my eating disorder and destructive behaviours that put my health in jeopardy. I was so tired of ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ 😖 Using exercise as a punishment for what I ate ⁠⠀ 😖 Obsessing over what I couldn't eat ⁠⠀ 😖 Feeling light-headed and dizzy on a daily basis ⁠⠀ 😖 Never feeling satisfied and nourished from my diet⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ It was tough to constantly be overworking my body while underestimating the calories and food I consumed. Being exhausted and never having energy to do anything was a tell tale sign that I wasn't nourishing my body, but I let this go on for years before realizing how damaging it really was. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ It took me way too damn long to heal from my eating disorder and be able to live a normal life again, but you don't have to suffer anymore. In my story last week I had asked what you think is better Low Bar Squats OR High Bar Squats . Well read through and you'll know the answer 😉 . Honestly speaking our anatomy greatly effects our squat form and abilities. Starting from our hips to knees to ankles....our anatomy can vary from person to person. This is why we should squat based on what feels comfortable for us! The only key here is keeping the spine neutral and squat full depth(if possible), your stance, foot turn and bar placement are upto you. . In today's post I share two videos of me doing high bar and low bar. In the first video demonstrating High Bar Squats wherein in the second video it's Low Bar Squats. Honestly, both are GREAT & one is no better than the other🤷. However like I said earlier your anatomy, mobility, goals may impact which one you choose. Personally I feel strongest and most stable at Low bar squat. Likely because my back and hamstrings are strong. But your story is likely completely different. 🎃😻 @jenni_rawlings came to Cincinnati and we got to hang out in real life for three days of biomechanics with @julesyoga! 2019 has turned out to be THE year of seeing some of my favorite yoga and movement educators IRL! I had only planned for @kathrynbruniyoung’s Mindful Strength Teacher Intensive in Cornwall, but then @trinaaltman came to town in May and then this past weekend was just ten minutes from my home. Getting to listen to these women share their knowledge and experience has made for a brilliant movement science trilogy. Now to synthesize through the end of the year. Movement is Life. ⁣ If you know me I will tell you this all day every day, or at least ask you!⁣ ⁣ Moving your body all day long. ⁣ That is what saved me. I just started trying different workouts and types of movement to make it interesting so I didn’t get bored. I finally found the things I loved to do on a daily basis. You will too!⁣ ⁣ ⚡️Benefits of Movement Everyday⚡️⁣ 1. It can improve the overall Metabolic function of your Body.⁣ 2. You Release Endorphins Boosting Your Energy and Mood.⁣ 3. Reduces Cravings (Sugar and Processed Food)⁣ 4. Boosts Immune Function⁣ 5. Eases Joint & Lower Back Pain⁣ 6. Reduces Risk of Disease and Cancer⁣ 7. Overall Happiness and Wellness which will increase your Life Span. (I’m shooting for 111❤️)⁣ ⁣ And that is just the beginning. There are so many benefits, and they all increase your health and fitness to optimal levels!⁣ ⁣ Walking, Speed Walking, Jogging, Running, Hiking, Swimming, Dancing, Cycling, Lifting, HIIT, Yoga, Pilates.... it all counts...and all will make you feel amazing!!⁣ ⁣ Always Move your Body throughout the day and especially before and after meals. Start with getting a Fitbit, walking tracker or app and start tracking your mileage. 10,000 steps a day is 5 miles. ☔️This time last year I was in my cubicle sobbing☔️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ My business coach was hosting an event in Hollywood and the keynote speaker... @lewishowes ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I couldn’t help but think about ALL the things I was going to miss out on!⁣⁣ ⁣ ❌Lewis Howes ⁣ ❌Networking ⁣ ❌Coaches⁣ ❌Information ⁣ ⁣⁣ ⚡️FOMO like crazy!⚡️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I was on one of the coaching calls talking the week before the event... through tears I told my mindset coach how deflated I felt. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ She looked at me and said “you will be on stage next year. Speak it now.” I stopped crying a little stunned. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ A shock of confidence hit my heart and I said OK... “I will be on stage next year.” ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Yesterday I sat on stage with the other success panelists in gratitude and amazement at the universe. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I had no idea how it would happen... I simply knew it would. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Everything starts with a decision... EVERYTHING starts with a decision. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ In that moment I didn’t just say it... After workout glow ✨💛🙏🏼 What makes you workout? Why? For me, it’s about how it makes me feel. I may not be the strongest woman alive but when I workout I sure feel like I am. I include cardio and strength training everyday. Cardio is just overall fantastic for your body. I personally think everyone should include at least 15-30 minutes everyday. That can include speed walking, walking on incline, jogging, running and sprinting. Mix it up so you don’t get bored. If you want to lose overall body weight then you should aim at least 40 mins of consistent running. If you cannot run then walking on a speed of 3.5 to 4.0 is good and defiantly move up the incline. This will actually help you lose more body fat rather than just walking on a flat surface. Personally, I like running indoors on a treadmill. It’s safer on my knees and there’s AC. In addition, I feel that running on a treadmill helps to keep my body more in balance when running which in turn keeps my speed consistent. If you change your daily eating habits and do cardio everyday you will definitely see massive change. Always keep yourself hydrated and don’t eat any heavy meals before a run. In fact, running on an empty stomach early in the morning is really great at helping you lose more fat. However, everyone’s body is different so listen to what your body says. I don’t like to run or workout on a empty stomach.
